Extraction of iron (III) ions by core-shell microgel for in situ formation of iron nanoparticles to reduce harmful pollutants from water

Summary: This paper introduces a new system suitable for simultaneous removal of metal ions and organic dyes. Silica microgels surrounded by poly(N-vinylcaprolactam-acrylic acid) were created using the free radical precipitation polymerization method. The system was used to extract iron (III) ions from water and was characterized using various techniques. The resulting iron nanoparticles loaded in the microgels were found to efficiently catalyze the reduction of organic pollutants and toxic transition metal ions.

This report provides a comprehensive review of the synthesis, classification, characterization, and applications of cobalt nanoparticle microgels, with a focus on their catalytic generation of hydrogen and reduction of pollutants.

ZnO/biochar nanocomposites via solvent free ball milling for enhanced adsorption and photocatalytic degradation of methylene blue

The ball milling process increased the mesopores and macropores of the nanocomposites, enhancing their adsorption capacity and photocatalytic ability for the removal of methylene blue. A novel synthesis of hexagonal cylinder-like ZnO with an excellent performance by a surfactant-free microemulsion-hydrothermal method

Enhanced simultaneous adsorption of As(iii), Cd(ii), Pb(ii) and Cr(vi) ions from aqueous solution using cassava root husk-derived biochar loaded with ZnO nanoparticles

The modified biochar showed higher adsorption capacities compared to the unmodified biochar, with CRHB-ZnO3 exhibiting the best performance.
