Summary: This paper proposes an active disturbance rejection decoupling control method to address the control problem of multi-input multi-output uncertain systems. The method can handle unknown coupling dynamics, uncertain control input gain matrix, and external disturbances. A general extended state observer is constructed to estimate the total disturbance vector, and tuning laws are presented to handle the uncertainty of the control input gain matrix. The proposed method is applied to the path following of self-driving bus, and experimental results demonstrate its effectiveness in achieving desired performance despite external disturbances and nonlinear uncertainties.

Summary: In this paper, a novel control solution combining feedforward control and error-based ADRC is proposed for exhaust gas temperature control in the thermal regeneration process of a diesel particulate filter. The control system is designed based on the identified models of the diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC) and incorporates an error-based ADRC controller and a combined feedforward compensator. Simulation and experimental tests demonstrate that the proposed hybrid controller achieves more accurate and faster temperature response with improved robustness compared to a regular PID controller. The error-based ADRC in the hybrid scheme offers a promising alternative for existing applications to achieve better performance.

Summary: This paper proposes a multivariable active disturbance rejection control (ADRC) for a compression liquid chiller system, where the loop coupling is estimated and compensated in real-time by enhanced reduced-order extended state observer (ESO) and static decoupling. The simulation results illustrate that the proposed control strategy can guarantee satisfactory tracking performance and estimate the loop coupling completely under different operating conditions. Compared with the decentralized regular ADRC, the performance of the loop coupling rejection and the fluctuation of the control signal have improved significantly.

Summary: This paper proposes a Proportional Integral-type Active Disturbance Rejection Generalized Predictive Control (PI-ADRGPC) algorithm for controlling a high-purity distillation column system with large time delay. By replacing the PD controller in Active Disturbance Rejection Control (ADRC) with a Proportional Integral-type Generalized Predictive Control (PI-GPC), the performance of control systems with large time delays is improved. The grey wolf optimization (GWO) is used to tune the parameters of the proposed controller. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed strategy achieves good reference tracking and disturbance rejection performance.

Summary: This paper introduces a reduced-order active disturbance rejection control (RADRC) method to reduce the phase lag introduced by extended state observer (ESO). The study shows that RADRC can serve as a general-purpose fixed structure controller and achieve similar disturbance-rejection performance as a full-order linear active disturbance rejection control (LADRC). Simulation results demonstrate that any system controllable by LADRC can also be controlled by RADRC with similar disturbance-rejection performance.

Summary: Hysteresis affects the accuracy of a piezoelectric nanopositioning system, leading to difficulties in maintaining satisfactory performance with inverse hysteresis model-based control. Linear active disturbance rejection control (LADRC) is a practical approach, but the phase lag of total disturbance estimation impacts its ability. By introducing a phase-leading extended state observer (PLESO), the system can compensate for total disturbance in a more timely manner, improving positioning accuracy.

Summary: A new ESO design technique based on cascading a series of ESOs is proposed in this paper to limit the maximal implemented gain by inserting saturations into the observer internal variables. It is shown that adopting appropriate nonlinear gain mechanisms improves measurement noise tolerance. The new ESO based output feedback control has stronger uncertainty estimation and compensation capability compared to the standard ESO based output feedback control.

Summary: Model-based predictive control (MPC) is an advanced control method that predicts the future behavior of a controlled system using a process model. By implicitly determining the control law, MPC shifts the focus of controller design towards modeling the controlled process. With applications in various engineering fields, MPC reduces the initial hurdles for control and can even handle systems beyond the capabilities of traditional feedback controllers.
