Model Predictive Current Control With Model-Aid Extended State Observer Compensation for PMSM Drive

Huanli Liu et al.

Summary: This article proposes a precise model-aided extended state observer (MAESO) compensation-based real-time model predictive current controller, which has enhanced parameter robustness performance and high bandwidth. The predictive controller is converted into the form of multiparameter quadratic programming for online solution using numerical computational method and the constraints are linearized. The disturbances estimated by MAESO are fed back to the controller in the form of parameters for cycle-by-cycle compensation without extra controller design. Comparative simulations and experiments under different operating conditions are carried out to verify the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed method.

Active Disturbance Rejection Control Design With Suppression of Sensor Noise Effects in Application to DC-DC Buck Power Converter

Krzysztof Lakomy et al.

Summary: This article addresses the limitation of active disturbance rejection control (ADRC) algorithms caused by high-frequency measurement noise by transforming the high-gain extended state observer (ESO), an inherent element of ADRC, into a new cascade observer structure. Experimental results on a dc-dc buck power converter system demonstrate that the new cascade ESO design effectively suppresses the detrimental effect of sensor noise overamplification while improving the estimation/control performance. The proposed design is also analyzed in conjunction with a low-pass filter for reducing measurement noise in industrial applications.

Performance analysis of typical linear augmented observers for a class of MIMO systems with nonlinear uncertainty

Sen Chen et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the estimating performance of the widely-used linear augmented observer (LAO) and discusses the necessary and sufficient condition for unbiased estimation. By studying the observability of MIMO uncertain systems, it is proved that the estimation of LAO is unbiased if and only if the states and uncertainties of MIMO uncertain systems are observable. The presented theoretical analysis can help practitioners evaluate the feasibility of estimating specific uncertainties via LAO in practical systems.

Tuning Rules for Active Disturbance Rejection Controllers via Multiobjective Optimization-A Guide for Parameters Computation Based on Robustness

Blanca Viviana Martinez et al.

Summary: A set of tuning rules for Linear Active Disturbance Rejection Controller (LADRC) with three different compromise levels between disturbance rejection and robustness is proposed. These rules, validated through examples and control of a nonlinear thermal process, offer improvement in disturbance rejection, robustness, or both compared to classical PID and other LADRC tuning methods.

Suhail Ahmad Suhail et al.

Summary: This paper introduces a control strategy with Active Disturbance Rejection Control (ADRC) and Model Predictive Control (MPC) for automated steering in an autonomous electric vehicle, which shows robustness against structured uncertainties. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed control strategy outperforms MPC and ADRC in tracking performance, providing faster response, higher accuracy, and improved robustness against model uncertainties and external disturbances.

Review on model predictive control: an engineering perspective

Max Schwenzer et al.

Summary: Model-based predictive control (MPC) is an advanced control method that predicts the future behavior of a controlled system using a process model. By implicitly determining the control law, MPC shifts the focus of controller design towards modeling the controlled process. With applications in various engineering fields, MPC reduces the initial hurdles for control and can even handle systems beyond the capabilities of traditional feedback controllers.
