Experimental investigation on flow boiling characteristics in offset strip fin channels under different sloshing conditions

Haitao Hu et al.

Summary: The flow boiling characteristics in offset strip fin channels of plate-fin heat exchangers under different sloshing conditions were experimentally investigated. The results showed that rotational type movements enhance the transient heat transfer coefficient at low vapor quality condition, while weaken it at high vapor quality condition. The time-average factors were proposed to evaluate the average heat transfer performance during the sloshing period.

Experimental investigations on steam-air-hydrogen condensation and corresponding component separation phenomenon

Feng Liu et al.

Summary: In severe accident conditions of a pressurized water reactor, hydrogen is released into the containment, forming a mixture of steam-air-hydrogen. The complex mass transfer behavior caused by wall condensation results in different types of transport behaviors of the mixture gas, closely related to the stratification and flammability risk of high-concentration hydrogen. Experiments were conducted using helium instead of hydrogen to quantitatively determine these phenomena and assess potential causes, confirming component separation induced by steam condensation and identifying flow patterns of the mixture gas.

Summary: The study conducted experiments at different pressures and wall subcooling levels to discuss the effects on tube external condensation HTCs. They found that the deterioration effect of non-condensable gas weakened with increasing pressure, and proposed a more generalized experimental correlation based on a broad range of experimental data.
