Fit for purpose. Co-production of complex behavioural interventions. A practical guide and exemplar of co-producing a telehealth-delivered exercise intervention for people with stroke

Emily R. Ramage et al.

Summary: This paper provides practical guidance on how to co-produce interventions ready for clinical trial, by describing a 4-stage process, challenges faced, and practical tips. It also serves as an exemplar for the development of an intervention package using the Integrated Knowledge Translation approach.

The role of diet in secondary stroke prevention

Coralie English et al.

Summary: Poor diet quality is strongly linked to the risk of initial stroke, but its association with recurrent stroke risk is uncertain. Current evidence on the effectiveness of dietary interventions in reducing recurrent stroke risk is lacking and more research is needed in this area.

Secondary Prevention of Stroke: Study Protocol for a Telehealth-Delivered Physical Activity and Diet Pilot Randomized Trial (ENAbLE-Pilot)

Coralie English et al.

Summary: This study aims to test the feasibility, safety, and potential efficacy of a 6-month telehealth-delivered PA and/or dietary intervention for stroke survivors. The pilot randomized trial will assess outcomes such as feasibility, safety, and recurrent stroke risk factors. The results will inform the development of a larger trial to test the effectiveness of these interventions in reducing major risk factors for recurrent stroke.

i-Rebound after Stroke-Eat for Health: Mediterranean Dietary Intervention Co-Design Using an Integrated Knowledge Translation Approach and the TIDieR Checklist

Karly Zacharia et al.

Summary: This study used an Integrated Knowledge Translation approach and the Template for Intervention Description and Replication checklist to co-design and describe a telehealth-delivered diet program for stroke survivors. Through a 4-phase co-design process involving stroke survivors, carers, dietitians, and a research team, modifications were made to the intervention based on participant input to ensure accessibility for people with aphasia and include specific resources for stroke outcomes. Rigorous IKT co-design fundamentally influenced intervention development.
