By using a tetraphenylethene (TPE)-based ligand, tetrakis[4-(4-carboxyphenyl)phenyl]ethene (H4TCPPE), a porous metal-organic framework [Zn-2(TCPPE)] (1) is synthesized, which exhibits strong fluorescence and is capable of gas adsorption and sensing volatile organic compounds.
