Organic-template-free EMT-type zeolite was synthesised at low temperatures using obsidian as a precursor material. When using sea water during the hydrothermal incubation, the data indicate that 200-300-nm nanocrystal minerals begin to form at 35 degrees C, whereas the temperature must be increased up to 60 degrees C to form well-crystallized zeolite with distilled water.
