The sorption kinetics of isooctane at 150 degrees C over a series of silicalite-1 materials comprising small and large crystals and their corresponding hollow forms were followed by in situ diffuse reflectance FT-IR spectroscopy. The results suggest that sorption rate was mostly limited by surface effects in the case of small (i.e. 100 nm diameter) crystals, while this was not the case for much larger crystals.
