First Longitudinal Study Using Binaural Beats on Parkinson Disease

David Gonzalez et al.

Summary: This paper presents the findings of a longitudinal study that investigated the effects of acoustic stimulation with Binaural Beats (BBs) on patients with Parkinson's Disease (PD). The study involved 12 participants who listened to binaural stimulation for 10 minutes a day, three days a week, for six months. The results showed that while the initial hypothesis was confirmed, there was a habituation effect that reduced the effectiveness of the stimulation over time. Additionally, individual reactions varied, with some participants initially responding opposite to expectations but later showing a tendency towards the expected outcome.

A Pilot Study on the Functional Stability of Phonation in EEG Bands After Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation in Parkinson's Disease

Andres Gomez-Rodellar et al.

Summary: Parkinson's disease (PD) is a neurodegenerative condition that affects life quality, including neuromotor and cognitive performance. This study investigated the phonation stability of PD patients before and after rTMS treatment. The results showed significant improvements in phonation stability for actively stimulated cases, while sham cases did not show relevant improvements in phonation instability.

Geometry-Consistent Adversarial Registration Model for Unsupervised Multi-Modal Medical Image Registration

Yanxia Liu et al.

Summary: Deformable multi-modal medical image registration aligns anatomical structures across different modalities, but unsupervised methods face challenges in measuring image similarity and fusing representations. To address this, a novel unsupervised multi-modal adversarial registration framework is proposed, leveraging image-to-image translation. Two improvements are introduced: a geometry-consistent training scheme to encourage modality mapping and a semi-shared multi-scale registration network to accurately handle large deformation. Extensive experiments on brain and pelvic datasets demonstrate the superiority of the proposed method, highlighting its potential in clinical applications.

Arbitrary Scale Super-Resolution for Medical Images

Jin Zhu et al.

Summary: This paper introduces a novel approach for medical image arbitrary-scale super-resolution, MIASSR, which combines meta-learning and generative adversarial networks (GANs) to achieve super-resolution of medical images at any scale of magnification in (1, 4]. MIASSR shows comparable fidelity performance and the best perceptual quality with the smallest model size compared to state-of-the-art SISR algorithms on single-modal and multi-modal MR brain images. In addition, transfer learning enables MIASSR to handle super-resolution tasks of new medical modalities, with the potential to become a foundational pre-/post-processing step in clinical image analysis tasks.
