Genome-Wide Identification and Expression Profiles of C-Repeat Binding Factor Transcription Factors in Betula platyphylla under Abiotic Stress

Xiang Zhang et al.

Summary: CBF (C-repeat binding factor) transcription factor subfamily, belonging to AP2/ERF (Apetala 2/ethylene-responsive factor) transcription factor family, plays a crucial role in plant abiotic stress response. In this study, 20 BpCBF subfamily members were identified in Betula platyphylla. Bioinformatic analysis was performed to study the conserved domains, physicochemical properties, gene structure, and protein motifs of BpCBFs. Collinearity analysis revealed relationships between CBF genes in Betula platyphylla, Arabidopsis thaliana, and Populus trichocarpa. The promoter region of BpCBFs was analyzed, identifying mainly stress-related and hormone-related cis-acting elements. Expression patterns of BpCBFs in response to ABA or salt treatment were investigated, with most transcription factors showing responsiveness in different plant tissues. The study also provided insights into the transcription activating activity of BpCBF7 and its response to cold stress, serving as a reference for further research on CBF transcription factors in woody plants.

Functional roles of the birch BpRAV1 transcription factor in salt and osmotic stress response

Ping Hu et al.

Summary: RAV (Related to ABI3/VP1) transcription factors are key players in plant response to abiotic stresses, with the novel gene BpRAV1 identified in white birch. BpRAV1 acts as a transcriptional activator localized in the nucleus and is induced by salt and osmotic stress, enhancing stress tolerance through ROS scavenging. The discovery of BpRAV1's binding to specific elements and activation of antioxidant genes further reinforces its role as a positive regulator in abiotic stress response.

Identification and expression analysis of the WRKY gene family in Isatis indigotica

Renjun Qu et al.

Summary: WRKY proteins play key roles in regulating growth, development, and stress responses in plants. In this study, 64 IiWRKY genes were identified in Isatis indigotica, classified into three groups based on structure and phylogenetic relationships, and found to contain two variants of the WRKYGQK motif. Gene duplication events and distinct expression patterns in different organs and stress responses were also analyzed. These findings contribute to the understanding of stress responses in this important herb.

WRKY transcription factors and plant defense responses: latest discoveries and future prospects

Shabir H. Wani et al.

Summary: WRKY transcription factors are essential regulators in plants, playing critical roles in response to biotic and abiotic stresses. They modulate various biological processes in plants by regulating signal transduction pathways, response to internal signals, developmental coordination, and adaptation to stress environments. Through interactions with other transcription factors, WRKY TFs form part of signaling webs that regulate diverse processes and plant immune response.
