Exogenously Applied Cyclitols and Biosynthesized Silver Nanoparticles Affect the Soluble Carbohydrate Profiles of Wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) Seedling

Leslaw B. Lahuta et al.

Summary: Plant responses to stresses caused by metal nanoparticles are affected by cyclitols, which are absorbed and transported within the plant. Cyclitols induce the accumulation of sucrose and 1-kestose in seedlings, while (Bio)Ag NPs increase the concentrations of these sugars. Additionally, cyclitols decrease the concentrations of fructose and glucose. Similar effects were observed in seedlings developed from primed grains.

Plants and rhizospheric environment: Affected by zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO NPs). A review

Lingrui Liu et al.

Summary: Currently, the agricultural sector faces various critical issues, such as reduced crop productivity caused by environmental factors. Nanotechnology, as a sustainable agricultural technology, holds great potential for development. Zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO NPs) have gained attention as nano-fertilizers, nano growth regulators, and nano-pesticides in agriculture due to their beneficial properties. This study reviews the literature on the interaction between ZnO NPs and plants, focusing on their uptake and transport pathways, mechanisms involved in enhancing growth and resistance, effects on the rhizospheric environment, and toxic effects and mechanisms in plants. The study concludes that ZnO NPs can be absorbed by plants through roots and leaves, with subsequent transformations. Moderate application can promote plant growth and alleviate stress, whereas excessive application may lead to toxic effects. The effects on the rhizospheric environment should not be ignored. This study provides valuable insights for the safe and effective use of ZnO NPs in agricultural production.
