Exploration on the Cr(VI) resistance mechanism of a novel thermophilic Cr(VI)-reducing bacteria Anoxybacillus flavithermus ABF1 isolated from Tengchong geothermal region, China

Wenjing Yang et al.

Summary: This study investigates the resistance and reduction mechanisms of a novel alkaline Cr(VI)-reducing thermophile Anoxybacillus flavithermus ABF1. The results show that ABF1 can survive in high temperature and alkaline environment, and has excellent removal capability for low concentration of Cr(VI). The strain reduces Cr(VI) extracellularly by secreting enzymes, resulting in the formation of Cr2O3. Key genes are involved in this process.
