The Formability, Microstructure, and Mechanical Properties of Powder-Sintered TC4 Alloy Hollow Shafts Formed by Cross-Wedge Rolling

Pengni Feng et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a powder-sintered TC4 alloy hollow shaft formed by the cross-wedge rolling (CWR) process to produce a titanium alloy hollow shaft with low cost and high quality. The formability, microstructure distribution and mechanical properties of powder-sintered TC4 alloy hollow shafts formed by CWR are experimentally studied. The results show that high-quality powder-sintered TC4 alloy hollow shafts can be formed by CWR without a mandrel at a certain temperature range.

Formability and microstructure of TC4 titanium alloy hollow shafts formed by cross-wedge rolling with a mandrel

Pengni Feng et al.

Summary: This study investigates the formability and microstructure of TC4 titanium alloy hollow shafts formed by cross-wedge rolling (CWR) for lightweight products in the aviation sector. The effect of process parameters on the ellipticity of the TC4 alloy hollow shafts is significant, with factors such as forming angle, stretching angle, and area reduction playing crucial roles. Additionally, the deformation temperature, area reduction, and wall thickness of the workpiece also impact the microstructure of the TC4 alloy hollow shafts formed by CWR.
