Low-density Fe40Mn19Ni15Al15Si10C1 high entropy steel processed by mechanical alloying and spark plasma sintering: Phase evolution, microstructure and mechanical properties

Harsh Jain et al.

Summary: The present study synthesized a novel Fe40Mn19Ni15Al15Si10C1 low-density high entropy steel through mechanical alloying and spark plasma sintering. The sample had multiphase structures and showed thermal stability up to -500 degrees C. The spark plasma sintered sample retained the desired phases and exhibited enhanced mechanical properties.

A novel Fe-rich non-equiatomic medium-entropy alloy with superior mechanical properties

Vikas Shivam et al.

Summary: A cost-effective iron-rich non-equiatomic Fe50Mn20Al15Ni10Co5 medium entropy alloy (MEA) was synthesized by vacuum induction melting. The as-cast alloy exhibits a multiphase microstructure and has shown high compressive yield strength and ultimate strength, as well as good ductility. These results provide direction for designing and developing economically viable alloys at an industrial scale.

Local Composition Migration Induced Microstructural Evolution and Mechanical Properties of Non-equiatomic Fe40Cr25Ni15Al15Co5 Medium-Entropy Alloy

Vikas Shivam et al.

Summary: A newly designed non-equiatomic Fe40Cr25Ni15Al15Co5 medium-entropy alloy was produced by induction melting. The alloy exhibits a two-phase microstructure with columnar dendrites in the as-cast state. Heat treatment at different temperatures leads to compositional rearrangement and an increase in plasticity.
