Effect of temperature and stress on high temperature creep behavior of Ni3Al-based single crystal superalloy

Cheng Chang et al.

Summary: The creep behavior and dislocations mechanism of the Ni3Al-based single crystal alloy IC6SX with [001] orientation were investigated under different testing conditions. It was found that temperature and stress had a significant effect on the creep life of the alloy, and the dislocations entered the gamma' phase by climbing under high temperature and low stress condition.

Microstructural evaluation of Hastelloy-X transient liquid phase bonded joints: Effects of filler metal thickness and holding time

A. Malekan et al.

Summary: Optimal bonding parameters for Hastelloy-X samples were investigated utilizing transient liquid phase bonding with different filler metal thicknesses and holding times, resulting in joints with more uniform properties. By adjusting these parameters, the completion of isothermal solidification and reduction in precipitate density in the diffusion-affected zone were achieved, leading to improved hardness distribution in the joint area.

Diffusion braze homogenisation and contraction during re-repair heat treatments of a single crystal nickel-based superalloy

E. P. Hinchy et al.

Summary: The study analyzed the microstructural transformation of nickel-based braze reservoirs in single crystal nickel-based superalloy substrates after one to four braze diffusion heat treatments. It was found that the braze did not fully homogenize after brazing at high temperatures, leading to the formation of boride phases, which could result in re-melting and surface depressions during subsequent heat treatments, potentially impacting equipment performance.

Evolution of microstructure and mechanical properties on dissimilar transient liquid phase (TLP) bonding of GTD-111 and IN-718 by BNi-9 (AWS A5.8/A5.8M) interlayer

Ali Izadi Ghahferokhi et al.

Summary: Dissimilar transient liquid phase (TLP) bonding of GTD-111 and IN-718 nickel-based superalloys was investigated using BNi-9 as an interlayer at 1100 degrees C. The study showed that the bonding time affects the microstructure and mechanical properties of the TLP-bonded specimens. Micro-hardness investigations revealed a decrease in hardness with the completion of isothermal solidification, while shear strength test results demonstrated an increase in shear strength with incrementing bonding time.
