Summary: Constructing a Z-scheme photocatalyst by coupling C-MoS2 with octahedral anatase TiO2 nanocrystals using a hydrothermal approach showed high photocatalytic efficiency under simulated solar light, achieving 99% degradation of methylene blue within 60 minutes. The semiconductor coupling and introduction of solid-state electron mediators led to increased light absorption and accelerated charge transfer, significantly enhancing the photocatalytic activity compared to traditional photocatalysts.

Green MoS2 nanosheets as a promising material for decontamination of hexavalent chromium, pharmaceuticals, and microbial pathogen disinfection: spectroscopic study

Summary: This study reports the fabrication of green and homogeneous (1 T/2H) MoS2 nanosheets for efficient removal of Cr6+ ions and pharmaceuticals from wastewater. Spectroscopic analysis confirms the importance of MoS2 nanosheets in the photoreduction of Cr6+ ions. Furthermore, complete degradation of various pharmaceuticals and removal of pathogens were achieved using (1 T/2H) MoS2 nanosheets. These results are significant for the rational design of high-performance nanosheets for decontamination of heavy metals, pharmaceuticals, and pathogens from aquatic environments.

Superior photodegradation activity of MoS2/TiO2 nanofibers for phenol under visible light irradiation

Summary: Binary composite MoS2/TiO2 nanofibers were prepared using electrospinning technique, and the photocatalytic efficiency of these nanofibers can be controlled by adjusting the ratio of MoS2 to TiO2. The results showed that the prepared nanofibers exhibited remarkable photocatalytic performance in degrading phenol compounds under visible light, and they also demonstrated high activity and stability. Therefore, MoS2/TiO2 nanofibers have great potential for the treatment of wastewater contaminated with toxic organic compounds.

Removal and surface photocatalytic degradation of methylene blue on carbon nanostructures

Summary: The removal and photodegradation of methylene blue on the surface of different carbonaceous materials, including pure and nitrogen-doped multi-walled carbon nanotubes, and graphitic nanoribbons, were examined. Nitrogen-doped multi-walled carbon nanotubes showed the best adsorption capacity and photocatalytic activity, attributed to their highly reactive sites due to nitrogen doping and pi-pi electron donor-acceptor interaction with methylene blue molecules on the surface of carbon nanostructures.

The unique structure of the composite material not only effectively inhibited photocorrosion, but also promoted the separation of photoinduced electron-hole pairs.

Stability and catalytic properties of 1T-MoS2 obtained via solvothermal synthesis

Summary: Nanodispersed MoS2 and CoMoS2 materials with metastable 1T MoS2 phase were prepared using solvothermal technique and studied for their performance in electrocatalytic hydrogen evolution, thiophene hydrodesulfurization, and 1-pentene hydrogenation reactions. The role of different factors in stabilizing the 1T MoS2 phase was investigated, with ethylene glycol found to stabilize the polymorph. The presence of cobalt did not affect the stability of the 1T phase, but improved both HER and HDS performance by forming CoMoS species.

Comparative study for adsorption of congo red and methylene blue dye on chitosan modified hybrid nanocomposite

Summary: This paper synthesized an eco-friendly and low-cost chitosan modified hybrid Azadirachta indica leaves powder-Kaolinite clay nanocomposite and investigated its potential as an adsorbent for removing hazardous dyes from aqueous solution. The results showed that the nanocomposite had good adsorption capacity for Congo red and Methylene blue dyes, with the ability to be successfully regenerated multiple times. The study also found that the adsorption process followed pseudo second order kinetics and had thermodynamic parameters indicating spontaneous and endothermic nature.
