Efficacy of Eu3+ on improving the near-infrared optical nonlinearities and optical limiting properties of antimony sodium borate glasses

Naseem Fatima et al.

Summary: The study investigated the efficacy of Eu3+ ions in antimony sodium borate glasses for nonlinear optical and optical limiting performances, showing an increasing trend in two photon absorption coefficients and a decreasing trend in optical limiting threshold values. These glasses are endorsed as promising materials for protection from laser induced damages, due to their improved two photon absorption and decreased optical limiting threshold coefficients with respect to Eu2O3 concentration in the compositions.

Femtosecond-scale all-optical switching in oxyfluorogallate glass induced by nonlinear multiphoton absorption

Qisong Li et al.

Summary: This study reported an all-optical switch based on a new oxyfluorogallate glass with high efficiency and fast response time in the near-infrared wavelength range, crucial for optical telecommunication applications. The oxyfluorogallate glass showed good nonlinear optical properties, making it a suitable material for nonlinear optical devices. The switch time of the oxyfluorogallate glass due to nonlinear multiphoton absorption was found to be approximately 350 fs, with a maximum on-off amplitude of about 12%, making it a promising material for integrated photonic devices.
