Understanding AI-based customer service resistance: A perspective of defective AI features and tri-dimensional distrusting beliefs

Bo Yang et al.

Summary: Communicating with customers through AI-based chatbots in customer service (AISC) has become popular, but there are defects in its actual implementation and it is not always accepted by customers. This study investigates customer resistance to AISC and proposes that lack of empathy is a key feature in its emotional dimension. Three pathways in which empathy functions are lacking are proposed and tested through a survey, and the results reveal that lack of empathy has direct, indirect, and moderating effects on customer resistance.

Propensity to trust and risk aversion: Differential roles in the trust process

Gene M. Alarcon et al.

Summary: This study examined the impact of propensity to trust (PT) and risk aversion (RA) on trustworthiness perceptions and risk-taking behaviors. The findings demonstrated that PT was associated with initial trustworthiness perceptions, while RA influenced the rate of change in trustworthiness perceptions and risk-taking behaviors over time. These results highlight the differential roles of these personality constructs within the trust process.

Pricing strategy and performance investment decisions in competitive crowdfunding markets

Wenqing Wu et al.

Summary: This study examines how crowdfunding platforms utilize pricing and investment strategies to influence platform profits. It finds that the investment level of crowdfunding platforms is determined by the preferences for performance investment between funders and fundraisers, and other factors such as cross-network externalities, horizontal differences between platforms, transaction fees, and fundraisers' fixed costs also play roles in shaping the strategies of crowdfunding platforms.

Human vs. AI: Understanding the impact of anthropomorphism on consumer response to chatbots from the perspective of trust and relationship norms

Xusen Cheng et al.

Summary: This study investigates the response of consumers to chatbots and their intention to switch to human agents. It finds that the anthropomorphic attributes of chatbots have an impact on consumers' perceived trust in chatbots and their switching intention, with relationship norms playing a moderating role. Trust in chatbots negatively affects consumers' intention to switch to a human agent.

Trusting the stock market: Further evidence from IPOs around the world

Kiridaran Kanagaretnam et al.

Summary: This study provides strong evidence that societal trust is negatively associated with the degree of IPO underpricing. The effect of trust in reducing IPO underpricing is more pronounced when the information environment is less transparent, the stock market environment is less robust, and legal institutions are weaker.

Evolution of trust in a hierarchical population with punishing investors

Ketian Sun et al.

Summary: Trust plays a crucial role in the development of human society. Through the study of trust and trustworthiness levels in a trust game involving investors and trustees, it is found that the introduction of punishment can lead to a stable coexistence between punishing investors and trustworthy trustees. Additionally, an intermediate fraction of investors can better promote the evolution of trust when the punishment intensity is low.

Ambient intelligence approach: Internet of Things based decision performance analysis for intrusion detection

T. V. Ramana et al.

Summary: In recent infrastructures, the Internet of Things (IoT) is crucial for connecting various actuators and sensors, but its security remains a concern. Therefore, an ambient intelligence approach is proposed for intrusion detection system (IDS). By combining reinforcement learning and deep Q-neural network, a RL-DQN model is developed to enhance the decision performance of IDS in IoT.
