Adaptive Voltage Controller for Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor in Six-Step Operation

Zisui Zhang et al.

Summary: An adaptive voltage controller scheme is proposed in this paper for flux-weakening control in Permanent Magnet Synchronous Machine (PMSM) drives under the six-step operation. The presented technique utilizes voltage feedback control to fully utilize the DC link voltage, thus extending the maximum torque range in the flux-weakening region. The behavior of the voltage controller is analyzed under the modulation delay and nonlinear gain characteristics of six-step operation, and compensatory control action is generated with varying voltage feedback gains based on the magnitude difference between voltage vectors to achieve a greater torque range and higher efficiency in the flux-weakening zone. The effectiveness of the proposed technique is verified through simulation and experimental results on a PMSM drive platform.

Model Predictive Control For A PLL-Less SiC Grid-Tied Inverter With Zero-Voltage-Ride-Through Capability

Xiaofeng Dong et al.

Summary: A finite-control-set model-predictive-control (FCS-MPC) method is proposed for achieving fast dynamics control and zero-voltage-ride-through (ZVRT) capability in a SiC three-phase grid-tied inverter. This method does not require a phase-locked loop (PLL) and voltage sensors, and its operation principles are explained through Lyapunov-based stability analysis. Simulation and experimental results validate the effectiveness and advantages of this method.

Mohammed Ali Khan et al.

Summary: This article proposes a dynamic voltage support scheme for achieving low-voltage ride-through using a grid-connected photovoltaic inverter. The scheme involves an additional control mode developed from conventional reactive current control approach, leading to stable operation and improved effectiveness in low-voltage networks. Results show that the proposed controller meets grid code requirements for regulating active and reactive power during symmetrical faults, allowing for fast transient events and preventing unwanted grid disconnections.

Passivity-Based Model Predictive Control of Three-Level Inverter-Fed Induction Motor

Fengxiang Wang et al.

Summary: The Finite control set model predictive control (FCS-MPC) for three-level neutral point clamped inverter-fed induction motor has advantages in reducing switching frequency and fast dynamics, but its performance is influenced by accurate measurement and parameters, requiring a large amount of computational resources. The passivity-based model predictive control (PB-MPC) scheme presented in this article aims at improving robustness under unavoidable measuring noises and parameter variation, while reducing computational burden. PB-MPC outperforms FCS-MPC in real applications due to power shaping and damping injection from passivity-based control, ensuring asymptotic stability, as verified by simulation and experimental results.
