A Novel Modulation Method Based on Model Prediction Control With Significantly Reduced Switching Loss and Current Zero-Crossing Distortion for Vienna Rectifier

Qingyan Zhang et al.

Summary: In this article, a modulation method based on continuous control set model predictive control is proposed, which clamps two phases and modulates one phase, not only significantly reducing the switching loss and controlling the neutral point voltage without using weighting factors, but also suppressing current zero-crossing distortion over the full range of modulation index. The effectiveness of the proposed method is verified by simulation and experimental results.

A Unified Carrier-Based Pulsewidth Modulation for Three-Phase Vienna-Type Rectifiers

Yuhang Zou et al.

Summary: In this article, a unified carrier-based PWM (UCB-PWM) is proposed to unify the expressions of different carrier-based PWM schemes and address the relationship between the injected zero-sequence components (ZSCs) and the switching-state sequences. UCB-PWM has the advantages of less digital calculation burden and better flexibility, making it suitable for neutral-point voltage balance control and deriving new discontinuous PWM (DPWM) schemes.

Model Predictive Control With Constant Switching Frequency for Three-Level T-Type Inverter-Fed PMSM Drives

Shuai Xu et al.

Summary: Finite control set model predictive control (FCS-MPC) shows superior dynamic performance for motor drives, but conventional methods suffer from unfixed switching frequency. This article proposes a new FCS-MPC strategy with constant switching frequency for PMSM drives, achieved by extending the period control technique. The proposed algorithm can be easily embedded in the iterative process and maintains balanced neutral point potential.

A Hybrid DPWM for Vienna Rectifiers Based on the Three-Level to Two-Level Conversion

Zhou He et al.

Summary: In this paper, a hybrid discontinuous pulse width modulation method (HDPWM) is proposed for the Vienna rectifier based on three-level to two-level conversion. Compared with the conventional method, HDPWM can effectively suppress zero-crossing distortion, reduce neutral-point voltage fluctuation, and switching losses.
