Summary: This article proposes a zero-voltage switching modulation scheme with constant switching frequency and simple real-time calculation to minimize the rms inductor current. By using a 2-D look-up table within a small range of input and output voltage, the proposed scheme achieves minimized inductor current. The derived zero-voltage switching conditions are accurate and simple, providing additional assistance in minimizing the rms inductor current.

Summary: Due to increased loss per unit volume in power transformers when operating at higher frequency, the increase in cooling system size can outweigh high-frequency transformer (HFT) size reduction benefits. Conventional air-cooling approach simply adopts oversized cooling fans with high airflow to keep the transformer below a temperature limit, resulting in a large footprint and high power consumption.

Summary: This article proposes an ultracompact multifunctional gate driver that integrates the driving circuit, Rogowski coil current sensor, and commutation path for a 211-kW SiC-based three-level propulsion inverter. The optimized commutation path and RCCS provide multiple functions, including suppressing overshoot voltage, ultrafast short-circuit protection, and ac load current sampling. By controlling the electric field of the gate driver through printed circuit board (PCB)-based shielding and shaping, the PD at high altitudes can be eliminated, thus improving power density and reducing insulation risk.

Summary: The demand for isolated bidirectional dc transformers (DCX) is increasing due to the rapid development of energy storage systems, data center power supplies, and transportation electrification. This article proposes a dual-active synchronization (DAS) modulation for traditional CLLC-DCX to solve power flow and current distortion issues, and introduces a desirable switching transition called Sync-ZVS with zero-voltage switching and load-independent voltage gain. The proposed ACS method and DAS modulation are verified through prototype testing with high efficiency.

Summary: This article introduces the advantages of the four-switch buck-boost (FSBB) converter in dc-dc applications that require step-up and step-down. To reduce the size of the inductor and improve efficiency, various zero-voltage switch (ZVS) control schemes for FSBB with four segments of inductor current have been investigated. Among these schemes, storing the optimized control variable as lookup table data achieves the minimum root-mean-square (RMS) inductor current without complex real-time calculations. However, using an external flash to store the lookup table data for wide input and output voltage ranges leads to significant time consumption for data invocation and affects the dynamic performance. To address this issue, a simplified real-time control algorithm is proposed, dividing the operation into defined Discontinuous Conduction Mode (DCM) and Continuous Conduction Mode (CCM) operation, ensuring minimum RMS inductor current and ZVS operation throughout the voltage range without complex calculations and mode transients. A 300 W dc-dc prototype is also built to verify the theoretical analysis and proposed control scheme using a low-cost real-time digital controller.
