Generalized Multistage Modeling and Tuning Algorithm for Class EF and Class Φ Inverters to Eliminate Iterative Retuning

Ioannis Nikiforidis et al.

Summary: Compared with Class E inverters, Class EF and Class Phi inverters are more complex and are affected by parasitic effects, which result in poor accuracy from traditional design methods. In this work, a simulation and tuning approach for Class EF/Phi inverters is proposed, providing solutions with different levels of accuracy depending on the understanding of system parasitics. Our algorithm is able to provide a generalized set of design inputs, including nonlinear parasitics and preferred component values.

Harmonic Weighting and Target Function Design Strategy to Minimize Switch Voltage Stress of Class φ2 Inverter

Desheng Zhang et al.

Summary: A target function design strategy based on quantitative harmonic weighting is proposed in this article for very high frequency (VHF) class phi(2) inverters. By optimizing the harmonic weighting, the target switch voltage with minimized peak value is derived and the power switch is modeled as a voltage source to provide fully quantitative analysis. The optimal features of switching node impedance and the basic constrains of the resonant tank are analyzed to calculate the circuit parameters directly, resulting in minimized switch voltage stress and improved power efficiency.
