Exploring the Generalizability of Spatio-Temporal Traffic Prediction: Meta-Modeling and an Analytic Framework

Leye Wang et al.

Summary: This paper proposes an analytic framework, STAnalytic, to explore the design considerations of spatio-temporal traffic prediction (STTP) approaches based on various spatial and temporal factors, aiming to achieve comparability among different application-driven approaches. Additionally, a flexible spatio-temporal meta-model, STMeta, is designed to integrate generalizable temporal and spatial knowledge identified by STAnalytic. Furthermore, a benchmark platform for STTP is built, consisting of ten real-life datasets and five scenarios, to quantitatively evaluate the generalizability of STTP approaches. Results show that STMeta using different deep learning techniques demonstrates superior generalizability with lower average prediction error across all datasets compared to existing methods.

Spatial-temporal attention wavenet: A deep learning framework for traffic prediction considering spatial-temporal dependencies

Chenyu Tian et al.

Summary: This study introduces a multi-step prediction model named STAWnet, aiming to better capture complex spatial-temporal dependencies on road networks and predict traffic conditions. The model uses temporal convolution for handling long time sequences and self-attention network for capturing dynamic spatial dependencies between nodes, without requiring prior knowledge of the graph.

Multi-stage attention spatial-temporal graph networks for traffic prediction

Xueyan Yin et al.

Summary: In this paper, we propose a Multi-Stage Attention Spatial-Temporal Graph Networks (MASTGN) model for traffic prediction, which captures interactions among multiple time series collected by the same sensor using internal attention mechanism, models complex spatial correlations with dynamic neighborhood-based attention mechanism, and extracts dynamic temporal dependencies using temporal attention mechanism. Experiments on real traffic datasets demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed model.

Summary: This paper proposes a novel Multisensor Data Correlation Graph Convolution Network model, named MDCGCN, to address the spatial-temporal correlation issues in traffic flow prediction. Experimental results show that the proposed model can significantly improve the medium and long-term prediction accuracy for traffic networks of different sizes, and outperforms existing prediction methods.

Deep Trajectory Recovery with Fine-Grained Calibration using Kalman Filter

Summary: With the advancement of location-acquisition technologies, the need to recover high-sampled trajectories from low-sampled trajectories to address uncertainty has arisen. Traditional solutions face two main challenges: inability to capture complex sequential dependencies and global data correlations, and the likelihood of noise or inaccurate information when using discrete units in space mapping.
