An ensemble methodology for hierarchical probabilistic electric vehicle load forecasting at regular charging stations

Lubos Buzna et al.

Summary: This paper presents a methodology for probabilistic electric vehicle load forecasting for different geographic regions, using a hierarchical approach to decompose the problem at low-level regions and forecast the aggregate load at a high-level geographic region through an ensemble methodology. Experimental results show that hierarchical approaches increase the skill of probabilistic forecasts up to 9.5% compared with non-hierarchical approaches.

Centralised coordination of EVs charging and PV active power curtailment over multiple aggregators in low voltage networks

Andres Felipe Cortes Borray et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a centralized coordination strategy to mitigate the impact of PV and EV on distribution systems by defining optimal export limits and employing aggregators to dictate optimal signals. The research utilizes mixed-integer quadratic programming and convex optimization models to effectively manage power and voltage constraints in low-voltage networks, regardless of detailed network information. The concepts are tested on a real low-voltage network with critical penetration levels of EVs and PVs, showing promising results in addressing technical challenges faced by distribution system operators.

Electric vehicle user profiles for aggregated flexibility planning

Marc Canigueral Maurici et al.

Summary: This study proposes a method to reduce uncertainty in charging demand by discovering distinct user profiles through a clustering method and aggregating them into daily user profiles. Tested using data from the public charging infrastructure in Arnhem, the method resulted in 45 clusters aggregated into 7 user profiles, some of which are clearly useful for flexibility programs.
