Thermal Analysis of Natural Cooling Type Distribution Transformer Retrofilled With Natural Ester Oil

Anupam Dixit et al.

Summary: This article investigates the temperature distribution of retrofilled layered winding natural cooling type distribution transformers. Computational fluid dynamics analysis and experimental data obtained through fiber optic sensors are used to compare the cooling performance of mineral oil-filled and natural ester oil-filled transformers. The findings can provide insights for decision-making regarding retrofilling of such transformers.

Alireza Bagheri et al.

Summary: This paper presents an online thermal modeling method based on the Unscented Kalman filter (UKF) for predicting the top-oil temperature (TOT) of transformers. The method is proven to be accurate and applicable through the comparison of actual and simulated data. This method has important implications for load management and the estimation of transformer insulation life.

Health Management of Dry-Type Transformer Based on Broad Learning System

Quanbo Ge et al.

Summary: This article presents a novel health management method for dry-type transformers that uses health scores to diagnose and evaluate the health condition of the transformer. The method utilizes a dynamic-weighted-feedback broad learning system (DW-FB-BLS) for health condition diagnosis and sets a rational score rule for health evaluation. The effectiveness of the proposed method is demonstrated using real field data.

Dynamic thermal model of liquid-immersed shell-type transformers

Marko Novkovic et al.

Summary: This paper presents the dynamic thermal model of shell-type transformers and develops and tests the model using heat run test data and field operation data. The IEC model is improved with the introduction of a temperature-dependent loss function, correction of top oil temperature rise based on ambient temperature, and correction of hot-spot to top oil temperature difference depending on top oil temperature. The paper proposes a method based on safety margins to ensure that measured temperatures are lower than calculated values. The method is tested on one-year data set from transformer operation.

Investigation of Mineral Oil-Based Nanofluids Effect on Oil Temperature Reduction and Loading Capacity Increment of Distribution Transformers

Ali Asghar Taheri et al.

Summary: This study investigates the use of nano-oil to reduce transformer oil temperature and increase loading capacity increment (LCI). The results show that using nanofluids, especially the proposed ONF nanofluid, can lead to a decrease in oil temperature and an improvement in transformer performance.
