Summary: We present a general theory of epistemic random fuzzy sets that can handle fuzzy or crisp evidence. This theory extends both the Dempster-Shafer theory of belief functions and possibility theory. Independent epistemic random fuzzy sets are combined using the generalized product-intersection rule. We introduce Gaussian random fuzzy numbers and their multi-dimensional extensions, Gaussian random fuzzy vectors, as practical models for quantifying uncertainty.

Summary: This paper addresses the fundamental problem of prediction in statistics, proposing the use of probabilistic predictors to quantify the uncertainty of future observations. The concept of validity is introduced, and its behavioral and statistical implications are explored. The study shows that valid probabilistic predictors must be imprecise, avoid sure loss, and have desirable frequentist error rate control properties.

Summary: In this article, an observer-based adaptive fuzzy hierarchical sliding mode control scheme is proposed for uncertain under-actuated switched nonlinear systems with quantized input signals. The problems of quantized input signals, external disturbances, unmeasured system states, and unknown nonlinear functions are considered. The proposed control scheme effectively avoids chattering phenomena and utilizes fuzzy logic systems and a switched fuzzy state observer for approximation and estimation. Based on Lyapunov stability theory, the scheme ensures boundedness of all signals and good tracking performance. A numerical simulation example is provided to verify its effectiveness.

Summary: An automatic evidential segmentation method based on Dempster-Shafer theory and deep learning is proposed for segmenting lymphomas from PET and CT images. The method combines deep feature extraction and evidential segmentation, and achieves better results than the baseline model and other state-of-the-art models by training the model to minimize the Dice loss function.

Summary: The notion of evidence of the second kind provides the foundation for a general theory of epistemic random fuzzy sets, which can handle both uncertain and fuzzy evidence, combining the characteristics of belief functions theory and possibility theory.

Summary: This article proposes a method for generating fuzzy random variables based on alpha-cuts and uniform random numbers. It proves a form of alpha-invariance for a class of fuzzy numbers (FNs) and provides exact equations for random variable generators for some well-known singleton-core FNs. Applications to univariate/bivariate FNs, two optimization inventory models are discussed in the obtained results.

Summary: This article discusses the importance of scale measures/estimates in analyzing fuzzy-valued imprecise data and introduces the concept of median distance deviation about the median (MDD) for fuzzy data sets and its robustness. The study points out that calculating MDD in fuzzy data cases is more complex and cannot be precisely computed, but the estimation method for fuzzy trapezoidal data demonstrates a certain level of robustness.

Summary: The study introduces a new classifier based on DS theory and CNN architecture, named the evidential deep-learning classifier. It aims to improve classification accuracy through feature extraction, mass function conversion, and set-valued classification, while also enabling cautious decision-making. The research also proposes an end-to-end learning strategy and a method for selecting partial multi-class acts.
