Adaptive positioning current measurement method for multi-conductor system based on linear magnetic sensor array

Haoyang Fan et al.

Summary: As transmission and distribution networks expand, monitoring lines and troubleshooting become more challenging. Non-contact current measurement can be helpful in this process by monitoring high-frequency current and line space position. This paper presents an adaptive positioning current measurement method using a linear magnetic sensor array for multi-conductor systems. The method detects position shifts of conductors and adjusts the measurement matrix to provide precise current measurements. Simulations prove the effectiveness of the algorithm in calculating conductor displacements and measuring currents in real-time.

Joint wind and ice hazard for transmission lines in mountainous terrain

Daniel Davalos et al.

Summary: This paper analyzes the ice and wind conditions in a mountainous terrain in British Columbia, Canada for a high voltage transmission line system. Artificial Neural Network (ANN) is used to predict wind speed, Inverse Distance Weighted Interpolation method (IDW) is used to estimate temperature, and K Nearest Neighbor Imputation (KNNI) is used for precipitation rate on the unsampled site. In-cloud icing is estimated using empirical equations, and the weather data is compared with a Weather Research and Forecast model. Hazard contours are drawn based on fitted distributions of wind speed and ice accretion, and compared with the National Standard of Canada for different reliability levels.

Particle Swarm Optimization or Differential Evolution-A comparison

Adam P. Piotrowski et al.

Summary: This paper compares Particle Swarm Optimization and Differential Evolution, two landmark metaheuristics, and finds that the performance of Differential Evolution algorithms is clearly better than Particle Swarm Optimization ones. Despite being more commonly used in the literature, Particle Swarm Optimization algorithms are outperformed by Differential Evolution on single-objective numerical benchmarks and real-world problems. Therefore, there is a need to reconsider the algorithmic philosophy of Particle Swarm Optimization variants to enhance their competitiveness.

Optimization of Structure and Control Technology of Tunnel Magnetoresistive Accelerometer

Yifei Nie et al.

Summary: In this work, an optimized tunnel magnetoresistive (TMR) accelerometer with a closed-loop control system was developed and evaluated. The device utilizes a silicon spring-mass sensing structure and in-plane electrostatic feedback control, and detects variations in magnetic field intensity using TMR sensors, which are then used for force-feedback control. Experimental results demonstrate high sensitivity and stability of the accelerometer.

Signals Passing Through Asymmetric Faults in Transmission Lines

Hunter Ellis et al.

Summary: Unexpected results have been observed in multiple papers using spread spectrum time domain reflectometry (SSTDR) to measure twin lead cables with faults. The signal is able to transmit through the fault, reflect off the end of the cable, and return through the fault due to coupling of electric and magnetic fields with nearby conductive objects. The effect is explained using multi-conductor transmission line theory and confirmed through finite difference time domain simulations and measured results, showing the impact of nearby ground.

A new selection operator for differential evolution algorithm

Zhiqiang Zeng et al.

Summary: Most research on improving differential evolution algorithms has focused on mutation operator and parameter control. In this paper, a new selection operator is proposed to improve the algorithm’s performance, especially when individuals are in a state of stagnation. Experimental results have shown that the proposed selection operator significantly enhances the algorithm's performance and helps it escape local optimal values.
