Summary: A novel bidirectional high-sensitivity bending sensor based on the v-shaped long-period fiber grating (LPFG) is designed and demonstrated. The v-shaped LPFG provides stronger refractive index modulation than conventional planar grids, leading to a more sensitive result. The sensitivity of the u-shaped LPFG can be potentially improved by optimizing the structural parameters of the grid.

Additionally, the sensor exhibits excellent performance in torsion, temperature, and strain sensing.
