Transparent Fiber-Millimeter-Wave-Fiber System in 100-GHz Band Using Optical Modulator and Photonic Down-Conversion

Low noise MgB2 hot electron bolometer mixer operated at 5.3 THz and at 20 K

Summary: A low noise superconducting MgB2 hot electron bolometer (HEB) mixer working at 5.3 terahertz (THz) frequency and operation temperature of 20 K has been demonstrated. Coupled with a high resistive Si lens and a spiral antenna, the bolometer showed minimal receiver noise temperature with potential signature of double-gap in MgB2.

Development of a waveguide-type hot electron bolometer mixer at 2 THz

Summary: The laboratory is developing a waveguide-type hot electron bolometer mixer at 2 THz, and has successfully fabricated a membrane-type Ni-NbN HEBM device. Results show that the noise temperature and gain bandwidth need to be improved, and efforts are being made to bring the HEBM device closer to the design requirements.
