This letter presents the design and implementation of a dual-polarized antenna feed matrix for a multibeam GRIN lens structure and investigates the effects of mutual coupling on the overall lens performance.
This letter presents the design and implementation of a dual-polarized antenna feed matrix to be used as feed source for a multibeam gradient-index (GRIN) lens structure and investigates the effects of mutual coupling on the overall GRIN lens performance. A planar wideband and dual-polarized 4 x 4 antenna feed matrix is designed and implemented to operate at Ku-band (11-14 GHz) and the performance of the antenna feed matrix was evaluated with an off-the-shelf-component 12-inch-diameter Luneburg lens antenna for a limited scan angle (15(degrees)). Measured and simulated performance of the antenna feed matrix and the mutual coupling is presented.
