Diversity Order and Measure of MIMO Antennas in Single-User, Multiuser, and Massive MIMO Wireless Communications

Summary: This letter calculates the diversity order (DO) and diversity measure (DM) of multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) antennas in various practical scenarios of single-user, multiuser, and massive MIMO wireless communications. These metrics are computed using the antenna correlation coefficient (ACC) matrix. The DO is obtained from the rank of the ACC matrix, while the DM is derived from the trace and Frobenius norm of the ACC matrix. Numerical results are presented, highlighting that the DM captures the impact of antenna correlation on diversity gain more effectively than the DO.
