Mass transfer mechanism of the multivariate consecutive extraction process of pectin and hesperidin from Citrus aurantium L.: Kinetics, thermodynamics, diffusion and mass transfer coefficients

Peng Zhou et al.

Summary: In this study, it was found that the extraction efficiency of hesperidin from FAI could be significantly improved by the prior extraction of pectin. The mass transfer mechanism of the extraction process was further investigated, and it was confirmed that the mass transfer was strengthened by the priority extraction of pectin. The results also showed that the activation energy of hesperidin extraction was lower in the multivariate consecutive extraction process compared to the single extraction process.

Kinetic modeling and process intensification of ultrasound-assisted extraction of d-limonene using citrus industry waste

Ramrao D. Khandare et al.

Summary: This study investigated the use of ultrasonication as a process intensification tool for the extraction of d-limonene from Citrus limetta peel. By using ultrasonic-assisted extraction, the extraction time was reduced to 20 minutes compared to 185 minutes in a conventional process. The highest extraction yield of d-limonene was achieved using hexane as solvent, biomass:solvent ratio of 1:10, 2 mm particle size, agitation speed 300 rpm, temperature 60 degrees C, ultrasonic power 80 W, 50% duty cycle and frequency 25 kHz.

Ultrasound-assisted gas-liquid mass transfer process in microreactors: The influence of surfactant, channel size and ultrasound frequency

Qiang Zhang et al.

Summary: The study focuses on the impact of ultrasound on gas-liquid Taylor flow in ultrasonic microreactors, showing that bubble oscillation and mass transfer behavior are influenced by both frequency and channel dimensions. Bubble oscillation amplitude decreases with smaller channel dimensions, and more significant mass transfer enhancement is observed at lower frequencies. The addition of surfactant can further increase the mass transfer effect.
