Association between cigarette smoking and ovarian reserve among women seeking fertility care

Summary: This study found that current smoking status was not significantly associated with diminished ovarian reserve (DOR), but a dose-response relationship was observed between smoking and the odds of DOR. Every additional cigarette currently smoked and every 1 pack-year increase in lifetime exposure were associated with increased odds of DOR. However, this association was primarily driven by heavy or long-term smokers. No significant effect modification by NAT2 genotype was found.
