The Utility of Glasgow Prognostic Score and Palliative Prognostic Index in Patients With Head and Neck Squamous Cell Carcinoma Under Palliative Care

Takehito Kishino et al.

Summary: This study assessed the accuracy of Glasgow prognostic score (GPS) and palliative prognostic index (PPI) in predicting survival of patients with head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) in end-of-life setting. The results showed that GPS, PPI, and their combination can predict the survival of terminally ill patients with HNSCC.

Predicting short-term life expectancy of patients with end-stage gastric cancer using Onodera's prognostic nutritional index

Kirika Oyama et al.

Summary: The study found that O-PNI can be used to predict short-term life expectancy in patients with end-stage gastric cancer, with O-PNI decreasing as life expectancy shortens. Different optimal cutoff values for O-PNI were identified for 8, 4, and 1 week before death.
