On the Correlation of the Microhardness and Glass Transition Temperature for Chalcogenide Glasses

Yu S. Tver'yanovich

Summary: The relationship between microhardness and glass transition temperature of glasses depends on the glass structure, with different structures exhibiting different correlations. By measuring the temperature dependences of microhardness of individual glasses, a more accurate understanding of their structural characteristics can be obtained.

The Relationship between Microhardness and Glass Transition Temperature of Chalcogenide Glasses

Yu. S. Tveryanovich

Summary: This work discusses the transition of glass to a softened state due to temperature and mechanical stresses. A model is proposed to describe the relationship between microhardness and temperature, using classical chalcogenide glass as an illustration. The important result is the establishment of the relationship between microhardness and enthalpy of glasses.
