Mokhtar Akhound Babatabar et al.

Summary: The pyrolysis of six biomass samples, including lignocellulosic biomasses (rice husk, coconut shell, walnut shell) and algal biomasses (Cladophora glomerata, Gracilaria gracilis, Azolla filiculoides), was investigated. The yields and composition of pyrolysis products were affected by the biochemical structure of the biomass. The highest yields of bio-oil, biogas, and biochar were obtained from coconut shell, Azolla filiculoides, and Cladophora glomerata, respectively.

Novel insights into the enrichment of phenols from walnut shell pyrolysis loop: Torrefaction coupled fractional condensation

Xiefei Zhu et al.

Summary: Enriching high-value chemicals, especially phenols, through the combination of torrefaction pretreatment and fractional condensation in the pyrolysis loop of agricultural and forestry waste is an efficient way to achieve sustainable development. The study showed that torrefaction and pyrolysis loop negatively impacted pyrolysis efficiency and the yield of liquid products, while the condensation efficiency depended on the combined effects of torrefaction and pyrolysis loop. Phenols tended to be enriched in the second condensation stage, with torrefaction significantly increasing the enrichment of phenols in the liquid products by at least 109.44%.
