Effect of light perturbation on the photo-fermentative hydrogen production of biomass from giant reed

Xuenan Shui et al.

Summary: This study proposed a light perturbation strategy to enhance the growth and hydrogen production of photosynthetic bacteria. The experiment showed that light perturbation at 6000 Lux and 24 hours significantly increased the hydrogen yield and production rate, as well as the dry weight of bacteria. Matrix scatter analysis revealed a close relationship between the hydrogen production rate and cumulative hydrogen production after perturbation.

Optimisation of photo-fermentative biohydrogen production from corn stover through the synergetic effect of ultrafine grinding and SnO2 nanomaterials

Nadeem Tahir et al.

Summary: The synergistic effect of ultrafine grinding and nanomaterial loading on biohydrogen production from corn stover was studied. The physicochemical and optical characteristics of CS and synthesized NMs were comprehensively analyzed. An increase in grinding time and nanomaterial loading led to a significant enhancement in hydrogen production rates.

Composition of gas produced from the direct combustion and pyrolysis of biomass

D. O. Glushkov et al.

Summary: Biomass is a highly potential renewable power source, with combustion and pyrolysis being the common ways of utilization. The study compared the environmental and energy performance of direct combustion and pyrolysis of biomass, finding that biomass mixtures have better environmental characteristics and higher yield of combustible gases than individual components. Relative efficiency indicators showed that biomass-derived composite fuel is more efficient.

Influence of laser photoactivated graphitic carbon nitride nanosheets and nickel nanoparticles on purple non-sulfur bacteria for biohydrogen production from biomass

Yasser A. Attia et al.

Summary: The study aims to increase biohydrogen production from biomass using laser photoactivated nanomaterials, hypothesizing that bio-stimulation of hydrogen-producing bacteria with these materials can enhance bacteria endurance and improve biohydrogen yield. By exposing nanomaterials to laser radiation, mixing them with bacterial inoculum, biomass, and water, biohydrogen production was increased by 287% compared to conventional methods.
