PDMS/TiO2/Ag hybrid substrate with intrinsic signal and clean surface for recyclable and quantitative SERS sensing

Xiuting Li et al.

Summary: The innovative PDMS/TiO2/Ag hybrid substrate proposed in this study showed remarkable molecule anchoring, quantitative detection, reusability, and achieved a low detection limit of 1.58 x 10-9 M. The intrinsic Raman signal from PDMS matrix successfully corrected the poor detection linearity, leading to an improved coefficient of linear correlation (R2) from 0.967 to 0.997. Overall, the multifunctional substrate displayed excellent quantitative recyclable detection performance with electromagnetic hot spots.

In Situ Monitoring of Palladium-Catalyzed Chemical Reactions byNanogap-Enhanced Raman Scattering using Single Pd Cube Dimers

Dan Wang et al.

Summary: The central dilemma in label-free in situ surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) for monitoring of heterogeneously catalyzed reactions is the need of plasmonically active nanostructures for signal enhancement. By assembling catalytically active transition-metal nanoparticles into dimers, their plasmonic activity is significantly enhanced, enabling in situ SERS monitoring of various important heterogeneously catalyzed reactions.

Surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy tandem with derivatized thin-layer chromatography for ultra-sensitive on-site detection of histamine from fish

Sihan Zhang et al.

Summary: A novel and facile method for on-site detecting histamine in fish sample was developed by tandem surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) with derivatized thin-layer chromatography. This method not only visualized the histamine on TLC plate but also improved the sensitivity in SERS, which could be employed for the on-site separating and detecting histamine from fish sample.

Advanced sample preparation techniques for rapid surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy analysis of complex samples

Huasheng Lai et al.

Summary: Surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) is a powerful analytical technique for fast and sensitive analysis of trace analytes. However, the matrix interference effect in complex samples limits its rapid analysis. Therefore, proper sample preparation techniques are necessary to address this limitation and improve SERS analysis.

Quantitative SERS sensing mediated by internal standard Raman signal from silica nanoparticles in flexible polymer matrix

Jinqi Fan et al.

Summary: Due to poor signal uniformity and external interference, ultrasensitive surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) still faces difficulties in reliable and quantitative detection of trace molecules. In this study, a facile Ag/Si/sodium carboxy methyl cellulose (NaCMC) film with internal standard (IS) was developed, which showed high sensitivity and uniformity as a flexible SERS substrate. Experimental results demonstrated the feasibility of the proposed substrate, and successful monitoring of trace pesticide residues was achieved.

Robust quantitative SERS analysis with Relative Raman scattering intensities

Fengtong Zhao et al.

Summary: Quantitative analysis methods using relative Raman scattering intensities can overcome the challenges of SERS substrate inhomogeneity and fluctuating measuring parameters, providing effective and reliable information. By establishing external calibration curves and selecting appropriate label molecules, accurate prediction of molecular composition in multi-component systems and target molecule concentrations can be achieved.

Corner-, edge-, and facet-controlled growth of nanocrystals

Yuanwei Li et al.

Summary: A universal synthetic strategy for directing the site-specific growth of anisotropic seeds to prepare a library of designer nanostructures has been reported. This strategy leverages nucleation energy barrier profiles and the chemical potential of the growth solution to control the site-specific growth of NCs into exotic shapes and compositions. This strategy can be used to not only control where growth occurs on anisotropic seeds but also control the exposed facets of the newly grown regions.
