Effects of postharvest calcium treatmenttreatment on the firmness of persimmon (Diospyros kaki) fruit based on a decline in WSP

Mengpei Liu et al.

Summary: This study investigated the effect of calcium treatment on the firmness of persimmon fruit from the perspective of water-soluble pectin (WSP). The results showed that calcium treatment increased the fruit firmness and decreased the WSP content. Additionally, the lower activity of pectin degrading enzymes delayed the degradation of WSP and maintained the firmness of the fruit. Furthermore, calcium treatment also delayed water migration and further maintained the firmness of persimmon fruit.

Effects of 1-methylcyclopropene and abscisic acid treatments on texture properties and microstructures of postharvest tangerine (Citrus reticulata cv. Orah)

Ziyi Qin et al.

Summary: This study compared the effects of 1-methylcyclopropylene (1-MCP) and abscisic acid (ABA) treatments on the postharvest tangerine variety Orah. The changes in texture and ultrastructure of the Orah tangerine during postharvest storage were investigated. 1-MCP treatment maintained the texture characteristics and delayed softening of the Orah tangerine, while ABA treatment accelerated fruit ripening and senescence.

Integrated metabolomic and transcriptomic analyses of quality components and associated molecular regulation mechanisms during passion fruit ripening

Ming Xin et al.

Summary: Metabolite accumulation and gene expression in passion fruit revealed significant changes during ripening, with flavonoids increasing in the peel and sugar alcohols accumulating in the pulp. The key enzyme genes were identified as CHI, CHS, and F3'H, regulating flavonoid synthesis and influencing peel color. The RB stage was highlighted as crucial for regulating passion fruit quality, with most metabolites showing significant changes during this phase.

Rei Osuga et al.

Summary: Supercooling fresh-cut ?Fuji? apple samples at -5 ?C for 10 days can suppress microbial growth, reduce spoilage, and maintain high quality. The color parameters and weight loss of supercooled samples are equivalent to or less than those of the control samples. The firmness, soluble solids content, and pH of supercooled samples remain stable during storage.
