ENPP2 Promoter Methylation Correlates with Decreased Gene Expression in Breast Cancer: Implementation as a Liquid Biopsy Biomarker

Maria Panagopoulou et al.

Summary: ENPP2 methylation profiles differ in breast cancer tissues compared to healthy tissues, impacting mRNA expression and related to metastasis and cancer stage. Methylation of the first exon in circulating cell-free DNA may serve as a potential biomarker for diagnosis and monitoring of breast cancer, with implications for liquid biopsy applications.

Prometastatic Effect of ATX Derived from Alveolar Type II Pneumocytes and B16-F10 Melanoma Cells

Melanie A. Dacheux et al.

Summary: This study investigates the role of autotaxin (ATX) produced by alveolar type II epithelial (ATII) pneumocytes in the progression of B16-F10 melanoma-derived lung metastases. The results show that ATX derived from ATII cells can affect the progression of lung metastasis by modulating cytokine levels and the infiltration of CD8(+) T cells.

NbNAC42 and NbZFP3 Transcription Factors Regulate the Virus Inducible NbAGO5 Promoter in Nicotiana benthamiana

Yuan-Dun Ke et al.

Summary: Plant argonautes (AGOs) play important roles in defense responses against viruses. The expression of Nicotiana benthamiana AGO5 gene (NbAGO5) is highly induced by Bamboo mosaic virus (BaMV) infection, and the underlying mechanisms and factors involved have been investigated in this study. The research found that the NbAGO5 promoter can drive the expression of reporter genes, and TGBp1 is crucial for inducing the activity of the NbAGO5 promoter. Transcription factors NbNAC42 and NbZFP3 directly bind to the promoter regions of NbAGO5 and regulate its expression. These findings provide new insights into the defense mechanisms of plants against viruses.

Dysregulation of lysophospholipid signaling by p53 in malignant cells and the tumor microenvironment

Sue Chin Lee et al.

Summary: Mutations of p53 are the most common genetic alterations found in human cancer, and dysregulation of lipid metabolism by p53 can have a profound impact not only on cancer cells but also cells of the tumor microenvironment.

Atypical E2Fs either Counteract or Cooperate with RB during Tumorigenesis Depending on Tissue Context

Eva Moreno et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates a tissue-specific interaction between RB and atypical E2Fs in controlling tumorigenesis, showing enhanced tumorigenesis in the liver with combined loss of RB and atypical E2Fs, while inhibition of tumorigenesis in the pituitary gland. It suggests that atypical E2Fs and RB act cooperatively as tumor suppressors in hepatocytes, while atypical E2Fs may promote or inhibit tumorigenesis depending on tissue type and RB status, highlighting the context-dependent roles of these factors in maintaining genetic stability.

Transcriptional activation of ENPP2 by FoxO4 protects cardiomyocytes from doxorubicin-induced toxicity

Ling He et al.

Summary: It has been shown that ENPP2 protects cardiomyocytes from DOX-induced injury by inhibiting ferroptosis, and there is an interaction between FoxO4 and ENPP2 that regulates oxidative stress, autophagy, and ferroptosis in cardiomyocytes.
