Effects of a low-sodium diet in patients with idiopathic hyperaldosteronism: a randomized controlled trial

Summary: This study investigated the effect of a low-sodium diet on hemodynamic variables and disease biomarkers in IHA patients, and found that the low-sodium group had decreased blood pressure and increased serum potassium levels compared to the normal-sodium group. The low-sodium group also showed better control of both blood pressure and serum potassium. Therefore, a dietary sodium intake of 50 mmol/d is recommended for IHA patients.

Essential Hypertension and Oxidative Stress: Novel Future Perspectives

The results showed that melatonin supplementation significantly improved arterial stiffness and slightly increased endothelial function. Cardiovascular outcomes and all-cause mortality in primary aldosteronism after adrenalectomy or mineralocorticoid receptor antagonist treatment: a meta-analysis

Summary: This study compared the long-term cardiovascular and mortality outcomes of patients with primary aldosteronism treated with adrenalectomy and mineralocorticoid receptor antagonists (MRA). The results showed that adrenalectomy was associated with a lower incidence of all-cause mortality and major adverse cardiovascular events. Adrenalectomy should be considered as the preferred treatment for patients with primary aldosteronism.
