A stability and spatial-resolution enhanced laser absorption spectroscopy tomographic sensor for complex combustion flame diagnosis

Rong Zhao et al.

Summary: A novel stable laser absorption spectroscopy (LAS) tomographic sensor with enhanced stability and spatial resolution is developed and applied to complex combustion flame diagnosis. The sensor reduces the need for laser collimation and alignment even in extremely harsh environments and improves the stability of the received laser signal. Furthermore, a new miniaturized laser emission module was designed to achieve multi-degree of freedom adjustment, allowing for improved spatial resolution and reduced equipment cost.

3-D soot temperature and volume fraction reconstruction of afterburner flame via deep learning algorithms

Bin Zhou et al.

Summary: This paper presents a 3-D reconstruction technique for soot temperature and volume fraction of afterburner flame based on spectrally resolved measurement methods and inverse problem theory. By adopting the autoencoder LSTM neural network and synthetic dataset considering the camera's interior and exterior parameters, the authors achieve rapid, accurate, and simultaneous reconstructions. This method, named StfNet3D, is evaluated for reconstruction accuracy, noise immunity, and computational costs compared to CNN, LSTM, and traditional 3-D reconstruction methods.

Zhi-Tian Niu et al.

Summary: The paper introduces a method of tomographic laser absorption reconstruction based on laser absorption spectroscopy to obtain temperature and concentration distribution images in the combustion chamber. A novel algorithm, combining the Gaussian parametric level set method and regularized Landweber, is proposed to address the ill-posedness of the tomographic inverse problem, resulting in enhanced reconstruction quality and robustness.

On the Highly Accurate Evaluation of the Voigt/Complex Error Function with Small Imaginary Argument

Yihong Wang et al.

Summary: The algorithm presented in this study is based on Taylor expansion of the imaginary part of the complex error function, providing a rapidly convergent series for accurate approximation of the Voigt/complex error function with small imaginary argument y <= 0.1. The error analysis and run-time tests in double-precision arithmetic show that the proposed algorithm achieves an average accuracy exceeding 10^(-15) and 10^(-16) in the real and imaginary parts respectively, with calculation speed comparable to recent publications. An optimized MATLAB code is provided for rapid computation with high accuracy.

Turbulence-induced bias in time-averaged laser absorption tomography of correlated concentration and temperature fields with a first-order correction

Chuyu Wei et al.

Summary: This study examined the influence of correlated scalar fluctuations on laser absorption tomography measurements of temperature and species in a turbulent flame. It showed that bias in the measurements is primarily determined by temperature dependence in absorptivity and non-zero correlation between temperature and species concentration scalars. A first-order correction method was proposed to address these biases.

Summary: The study reveals that the inhibitory effect of trimethyl phosphate (TMP) in turbulent premixed flames is relatively lower and may change the combustion regime from thin reaction zone (TRZ) to distributed reaction zone (DRZ). The turbulent consumption speed can be decreased significantly by the addition of TMP, and the relative inhibition efficiency in turbulent flames is much lower than in laminar configurations.
