Quantifying the rates of late reactivation tuberculosis: a systematic review

Katie D. Dale et al.

Summary: The study included 110 studies divided into four methodological groups, focusing on tuberculosis reactivation occurring more than 2 years after infection. Findings showed that in infected, untreated cohorts, tuberculosis rates declined to approximately 200 cases per 100,000 person-years by the fifth year after conversion, and dropped to less than 100 cases per 100,000 person-years beyond 10 years, with uncertainty due to age and reinfection risks.
