Novel epoxy resin adhesives toughened by functionalized poly (ether ether ketone) s

Leena Karthikeyan et al.

Summary: In this study, a novel room temperature curable epoxy resin was developed by blending with different proportions of hydroxyl terminated poly (etheretherketone)s (PEEKTOH) as a thermoplastic toughening agent, which effectively reduced the brittleness and improved toughness. The experiments showed that the lap shear strength of the toughened adhesive improved by about 19%, and the fracture toughness of the cured blends increased significantly.
