Summary: Using data from the PATH Study, we identified three tobacco use behaviors: non-current user, moderate e-cigarette user, and poly-tobacco user. Over time, the distribution shifted towards moderate e-cigarette users and poly-tobacco users. Individual behaviors, household environment, and psychosocial factors were associated with tobacco use patterns. These findings can inform tobacco prevention and cessation policies among youth and young adults.

Factors associated with greater odds of MTEP use included being male, in high school, non-heterosexual, living with someone who uses tobacco at home, having cognitive difficulties, having lower perceptions of tobacco's danger, and exposure to tobacco marketing.
