Solar-driven gas phase photocatalytic CO2 methanation by multimetallic UiO-66 solids decorated with RuOx nanoparticles

Maria Cabrero-Antonino et al.

Summary: In this study, multi-metallic UiO-66(Zr/Ce/Ti) solids-supported RuOx nanoparticles were developed as photocatalysts for selective gas phase CO2 methanation. The trimetallic UiO-66(Zr/Ce/Ti) photocatalyst showed higher activity than mono- or bimetallic derivatives and previous reports on metal-organic frameworks (MOFs). Spectroscopic techniques were used to obtain experimental evidence and insights into the photocatalytic activity and mechanism. This research highlights the advantages of using multimetallic MOF-supported metal nanoparticles for solar-driven CO2 conversion.

Characterization of peroxo-Mo and superoxo-Mo intermediate adducts in Photo-Oxygen Atom Transfer with O2

Q. Henry Martinez et al.

Summary: After photo Oxygen Atom Transfer, the formation of intermediary peroxo-Mo and superoxo-Mo species is observed. These species, anchored on TiO2, can be observed at room temperature. The transformation from peroxo-Mo to superoxo-Mo is correlated with the oxidation of organic molecules.

Aminothiazole Ligand-Type Dioxo-Mo(VI) Complex Anchored on TiO2 Nanotubes for Selective Oxidation of Monoterpenes with Light and O2

Henry Martinez Quinonez et al.

Summary: In this study, selective oxygen atom transfer to various terpenes was achieved using a dioxo-Mo(VI)Ln complex anchored on TiO2 nanotubes under UV light and O2 as oxidant. Characterization of the catalytic system was done using FTIR, H-1 NMR, C-13, and elemental analysis. It was found that alpha-pinene was the most reactive monoterpene among the substrates.

Photo-assisted O-atom transfer to monoterpenes with molecular oxygen and a dioxoMo(VI) complex immobilized on TiO2 nanotubes

Q. Henry Martinez et al.

Summary: Selective oxidation of terpenes using a Mo((VI))Cl(2)O(2)Bipy/TiO2-NT catalyst under photo-assisted conditions was successful, leading to high selectivities in producing epoxides from monoterpenes. The chiral center in limonene was found to govern the formation of diastereoisomers during the reaction process, indicating stereoselectivity of the catalyst. Additionally, the Mo((VI))Cl(2)O(2)Bipy/TiO2-NT catalyst demonstrated high stability under the reaction conditions, as shown by recycling studies.

Photo-epoxidation of (α, β)-pinene with molecular O2 catalyzed by a dioxo-molybdenum (VI)-based Metal-Organic Framework

Nelson J. Castellanos et al.

Summary: A gallium-based metal-organic framework, post-modified with MoO2Cl2, was used as a catalyst for the liquid-phase photooxidation of alpha- and beta-pinene, resulting in (alpha, beta)-pinene oxide as the sole product. Peroxo-molybdenum species were identified, showcasing the catalyst's high recyclability and potential.
