A quadriceps femoris motor pattern for efficient cycling

Gernot O. O. Hering et al.

Summary: The specific activation patterns of the rectus femoris and vastus lateralis impact individual performance during high-intensity cycling. Highly trained cyclists exhibit a strong activation of the rectus femoris during hip flexion, resulting in reduced negative force in the pedal cycle. Pre-activation of the rectus femoris during hip flexion reduces force loss and improves force development during leg extension. A higher performance level is associated with earlier and more intense coactivation of the rectus femoris and vastus lateralis.

Acute Effects of High-Intensity Interval Exercise While Wearing a Sauna Suit on Energy Expenditure and Excess Post-exercise Oxygen Consumption

Aaron R. D. Matthews et al.

Summary: This study examined the effects of wearing a sauna suit during high-intensity interval exercise (HIIE) on energy expenditure and excess post-exercise oxygen consumption (EPOC). The results showed that wearing a sauna suit during exercise significantly increased energy expenditure but did not have a significant impact on EPOC. The study suggests that wearing a sauna suit may not provide significant weight loss benefits.
