Electrochemical direct air capture of CO2 using neutral red as reversible redox-active material

Hyowon Seo et al.

Summary: This study presents an electrochemical direct air capture (DAC) method using air-stable redox couple of neutral red, which requires a minimum energy requirement of 65 kJ(e)/mol(CO2). Direct air capture of carbon dioxide is a viable option for mitigating CO2 emissions and their impact on global climate change.

Migration-assisted, moisture gradient process for ultrafast, continuous CO2 capture from dilute sources at ambient conditions

Aditya Prajapati et al.

Summary: Current industrially relevant CO2 capture technologies are costly and energy-intensive, making them inefficient and unsustainable for long-term use. Researchers have developed a water-dependent CO2 capture system, utilizing the equilibrium between CO2 and carbonate and bicarbonate ions. By establishing a water gradient across a membrane, they achieved a high-efficiency CO2 capture process.

Kinetic model for moisture-controlled CO2 sorption

Yuta Kaneko et al.

Summary: The paper introduces an analytic model of the kinetics of moisture-controlled CO2 sorption and explores its interpretation in two limiting cases. The study shows that the kinetics can be expressed as a linear combination of 1st and 2nd order kinetics in the case of chemical reaction dominance, while non-linear diffusion equations can describe the interior transport kinetics. Experimental data validates the model's accuracy.

CO2 removal from natural gas by moisture swing adsorption

Xueyan Sun et al.

Summary: Moisture swing sorbents, with their low energy consumption and high adsorption capacity for high concentration CO2 gases, are a promising method for capturing industrial process CO2. Compared to traditional amine scrubbing techniques, the moisture swing process shows significantly lower energy consumption, making it a favorable option for CO2 capture.
