Construction of co-immobilized laccase and mediator based on MOFs membrane for enhancing organic pollutants removal

Xiaoxuan Lou et al.

Summary: In this study, a method of co-immobilizing laccase-mediator system (LMS) by metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) was developed, where laccase and 2,2-Azino-bis-3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic Acid (ABTS) were immobilized on polyethylene terephthalate (PET).This method improved the degradation efficiency and recyclability of laccase.

Enhancing stability and by-product tolerance of β-glucuronidase based on magnetic cross-linked enzyme aggregates

Bin Wei et al.

Summary: In this study, magnetic cross-linking beta-glucuronidase aggregates (MCLEAs) were constructed for the production of glycyrrhetinic acid (GA). The results showed that MCLEAs enhanced the activity, stability, and glucuronic acid tolerance of the enzymes. This provided an efficient strategy for enzyme immobilization with significant industrial applications.

Insolubilization of Tramates versicolor laccase as cross-linked enzyme aggregates for the remediation of trace organic contaminants from municipal wastewater

Jenet George et al.

Summary: The novelty of this study lies in the biocatalytic treatment of trace organic contaminants in municipal wastewater using insolubilized laccase. The developed cross-linked enzyme aggregates (CLEAs) showed higher efficiency and resistance to inhibition compared to free laccase. The CLEAs laccase demonstrated excellent removal performance in batch and perfusion basket reactor systems.

Characterisation and optimisation of a novel laccase from Sulfitobacter indolifex for the decolourisation of organic dyes

Nabangshu Sharma et al.

Summary: A putative laccase from Sulfitobacter indolifex was found to be stable and active at low to ambient temperature and across a range of pH conditions, efficiently decolourising industrial dyes. Enzyme immobilisation technology significantly improved the tolerance of the laccase towards extreme pH and organic solvents. This study expands the arsenal of bacterial laccases available for dye-containing wastewater bioremediation.

Immobilization of laccase via cross-linked enzyme aggregates prepared using genipin as a natural cross-linker

Jiyeon Hong et al.

Summary: Genipin, a non-toxic natural cross-linker, was successfully used to prepare cross-linked enzyme aggregates (CLEAs) with high thermal and pH stability, nano-sized, and maintained 85% of initial activity after 10 cycles of reuse. This alternative to toxic compounds like glutaraldehyde shows promising potential for industrial applications.
