Nanowaste: Another Future Waste, Its Sources, Release Mechanism, and Removal Strategies in the Environment

Zahra Zahra et al.

Summary: Nanowaste refers to waste derived from materials with dimensions in the range of 1-100 nm. The increased production and consumption of nanomaterials have resulted in a substantial amount of nanowaste, which raises concerns about its fate and impact on the environment. However, there is currently a lack of available information on the appropriate standards for identifying, monitoring, and managing nanowaste. Further research is needed to address this issue.

Chlorophyll retention reduces storability and pathogen defense in a novel citrus brown flavedo mutant

Kaijie Zhu et al.

Summary: Residual chlorophylls in harvested crops affect fruit storability and disease resistance by causing accumulation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and decreasing firmness. The presence of residual chlorophylls in the flavedo of citrus fruit leads to changes in metabolic processes, resulting in decreased storability and pathogen defense.

Impact of nanomaterials on plants: What other implications do they have?

Antonio Juarez-Maldonado

Summary: The use of nanomaterials in agriculture presents a wide range of possibilities, from biostimulation to pest control and monitoring characteristics using nanosensors. Biostimulation of agricultural crops with nanomaterials is particularly relevant, but there is a lack of information on the long-term impacts, both on ecosystems and human health.

Zinc oxide nanoparticles (ZnO-NPs) induce salt tolerance by improving the antioxidant system and photosynthetic machinery in tomato

Mohammad Faizan et al.

Summary: Foliar application of zinc oxide nanoparticles significantly enhances the growth performance and salt tolerance of tomato plants, increasing chlorophyll content and photosynthetic attributes. Zinc oxide nanoparticles mitigate the negative impact of salt stress on tomato growth, enhancing protein content and antioxidative enzyme activity.

Investigation of the influence of Zinc-containing compounds on the components of the colloidal phase of milk

Andrey Blinov et al.

Summary: This study demonstrated that Zinc lysinatoriboflavinate has minimal effects on the colloidal milk system, increasing the average hydrodynamic radius and zeta-potential of the dispersed phase. The interaction between milk kappa-casein sites and various forms of Zinc was simulated through quantum-chemical methods, suggesting a possible mechanism of action on the components of the milk dispersed system, particularly milk protein.

Effect of Ploughing Techniques on Water Use and Yield of Rice in Maugo Small-Holder Irrigation Scheme, Kenya

Pius Kipchumba Cheboi et al.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the impact of different paddy rice ploughing techniques on water use, rice crop yield, and water use efficiency in small-holder irrigation schemes. Results indicated that hand hoe ploughing had the highest water use efficiency and yield, while conventional ox-ploughing consumed the most water. The use of hand hoe ploughing technique increased yields by 20% compared to conventional ox-ploughing, suggesting that water use for ploughing may not be necessary in this area.
